When parts of your home are starting to look outdated, it’s important to begin home renovations to enhance its appeal and functionality. When you’re working on your home without the help of a contractor, there are a lot of different tools you’ll need to have access to each day. There are a few types of home improvement projects that require using a chainsaw to ensure you can cut through different types of materials with ease.

    1. Built-Ins

If you’re looking for an easy chainsaw project, built-ins are popular to install in different rooms of the home. Built-ins can be added to the living room or a home office and provide a space to store books, framed photos, and plants.

When you’re adding built-ins, you’ll take many measurements to ensure the materials fit seamlessly. You’ll need to use a chainsaw to cut the wood pieces to ensure there’s a high level of precision.

    2. New Kitchen Cabinets

One of the top chainsaw home projects includes refreshing your kitchen to ensure it’s contemporary and comfortable to use. A chainsaw will be needed throughout the process when you’re installing new materials, specifically when it’s time to add new cabinets.

Installing new wood cabinets in the space requires measuring the pieces of wood that need to be installed with the shelves, frame, and cabinet doors.

    3. Outdoor Fence

A chainsaw is one of the most important tools to use when you’re installing a new fence in your front or backyard. A fence can increase the level of security on your property and can also boost your home’s curb appeal.

The chainsaw will make smooth cuts in long pieces of lumber. The high speed of the tool will allow you to work quickly and create smooth edges during this easy DIY chainsaw project. Using a battery chainsaw can allow you to perform the cuts outdoors without needing an electrical outlet nearby.

    4. Deck Addition

    Deck addition work

Many people choose to install a new deck in their backyard as a way of enhancing the quality of their outdoor setting. When you’re ready to have a place to dine and entertain, a deck addition is a project you can do yourself, especially if you’re replacing an old deck that is rotting.

Those who choose to build a wood deck, compared to a composite wood deck, will need a handheld chainsaw to cut through the wood planks. Look for a chainsaw that is portable and allows you to move around when you have large stacks of wood to use in your yard. A chainsaw will also allow you to straighten out the wood pieces to ensure everything is uniform.

    5. Banquette Bench in the Dining Room

If you want to transform your kitchen nook or dining room, a banquette is a cozy addition that can allow you to seat more people around the dining room table. A banquette requires using wood planks that are finished and smooth where your family members can sit. You can cut perfect and straight lines with a jigsaw chainsaw. This type of saw has a smaller blade that makes it easy to cut at a consistent angle and can even allow you to cut perfect curves.

The banquette bench can be customized to include storage space under the seats. Drawers can also be placed under the framed pieces for storing kitchen tools, cloth napkins, and platters.

    6. Shiplap Accent Wall

If your bare walls appear bland and underwhelming, a shiplap wall is a quick and easy project that will dress up the room. A jigsaw chainsaw, a miter saw, and a table saw are all needed to perform the right cuts on the wood planks. Handheld jigsaw chainsaws are easy to use and control when working with smaller pieces of wood to install.

Measure the wall space that you plan to cover to determine the length of the boards to purchase. Find the studs in the walls with a stud finder to determine where you’ll need to nail the shiplap. Mark the cuts on the wood and cut the wood with the miter saw. Use a leveler to ensure the boards are straight before they’re secured to the wall.

A brad nail gun is an easy tool to use as you stagger the boards to make them look tiled. A jigsaw can then be used on the wood when creating customized lengths of wood and cut-out features for the outlets and light switches. Adding trim will complete the look.

    7. Gazebo

When you’re looking to create a seating area in your backyard, building a gazebo is a garden chainsaw project that can enhance the look of your outdoor space. Gazebos require building a platform for the foundation with the use of wood planks. You’ll need to mill all of the lumber with a chainsaw and create precise cuts for the posts, open or closed sheathing, rafters, and handrails.

    8. Outdoor Shed

Outdoor sheds provide extra storage and are primarily made of lumber. Rely on a chainsaw that is at least 2 inches longer than the wood you need to cut. You can have a higher level of safety with a longer chainsaw. Some chainsaws even measure closer to 36 inches.

Look for a chainsaw with sharper teeth to ensure you can cut through denser pieces of wood at a faster pace. Proper maintenance of the tool will allow it to operate more efficiently and will prolong its lifespan.

Invest in a quality tool that allows you to perform many chainsaw projects. It’ll be easier to improve the quality of your home and avoid hiring a professional contractor as you become more accustomed to using a chainsaw.
